What's Teacheo ?

Teacheo is an online tutoring community. On Teacheo, students take live tutoring lessons with tutors from the top Universities and with professional teachers.
Lessons take place on the Eclass, our live tutoring platform, featuring video-conferencing and a ground-breaking shared whiteboard. Just like in any class, students and tutors can easily interact using the Eclass, but no more transportation is needed!
Teacheo is also a place where students can post questions to the community of tutors, view recorded tutorials, and take online quizzes.

Our philosophy

During the past few years, the French tutoring industry has structured around a model in which parents have to pay sign-up fees, pre-pay a significant number of tutoring hours, and rarely choose the tutors themselves. Often, parents pay more than 500€ before they even get a first tutoring hour for their child.
On Teacheo, parents start paying only after their child has met a suitable tutor. Why would they pay before? No sign-up fee, no pre-paid lessons.
As for tutors, those who work for a traditional intermediary loose 30-50% of their revenue as commission. And for many of them, being a tutor is a way of financing their studies. That is why Teacheo does not take any commission. Tutors can use Teacheo free with their own students. They can also take a 9.90€/month subscription to access all the features of the Teacheo community.
Our community model benefits to all, parents, students, and tutors. We all share the same values of education, knowledge transfer, and helping each other.

Videoconference-based lessons ?

The advantages of videoconferencing

The advantages of videoconference are many. Since tutors do not need to waste time in transportation, they are more available. Scheduling a lesson at the last minute is now possible, which is very interesting for students, who know they will no longer feel left alone with a test to prepare. On Teacheo, there is always someone there to help. Tutors save time and transportation costs, so they can propose more attractive rates, and payment by the minute. A 20mn lesson becomes very affordable!

Do students take lessons with different tutors?

Our Eclass allows for very interactive lessons. It is then possible to take lessons with various tutors, but we encourage our students to take regular lessons with one or two selected tutors. Taking 4 lessons of 30mn is much more effective than 2 lessons of 1h.

A real lesson using videoconference?

A simple videoconferencing tool is not suitable for quality tutoring. We spent 2 years developing our online tutoring platform, the Eclass. We keep innovating everyday! The Eclass is designed for online tutoring: students can draw geometric figures, write equations seamlessly, share documents, use a library of exercises, and even view 3D shapes!

Company Background

Kemal El Moujahid founded Teacheo after an idea he had during his engineering studies at the Ecole Polytechnique. He was a Science tutor, but lived on a remote campus, and had to spend several hours in transportation. He then had the idea of remote tutoring, but the technology was not ready. In 2007, Kemal founded HexaTraining Technologies, pursuing the vision of online knowledge sharing marketplaces, just like an Ebay of knowledge. The mission of HexaTraining is to enable these online marketplaces, and in 2008, Teacheo.com, the first online tutoring community is launched.
